Guidelines for versioning of front-end
The frontends, both for Altinn Studio and Apps are set up as node modules, using a package.json
to import external dependencies. In
package.json for each package we can specify the version of the
package. In this context, package refers to the different applications we are bulding, such as
Each time we make a change to a package, we need to update the version of the package to reflect the change.
This is especially important in the packages related to
Altinn.Apps - whenever changes are merged into the
CDN supports versioning. So an app can refer to a specific version of f.ex. the app frontend.
The packages use semantic versioning:
Given a version number MAJOR.MINOR.PATCH, increment the:
- MAJOR version when you make incompatible API changes,
- MINOR version when you add functionality in a backwards compatible manner, and
- PATCH version when you make backwards compatible bug fixes. Additional labels for pre-release and build metadata are available as extensions to the MAJOR.MINOR.PATCH format.
Each time a change is made to any frontend applications, the version in the corresponding
package.json must be
updated according to the rules above.
